HZS Stainless Steel is delighted to congratulate Cory O’Regan after the Yorkshire boxer became English Lightweight Champion
With victory over Joe Howarth at Co-op Live in Manchester this weekend, Cory took the title following a ten-round unanimous decision, adding an important championship to a career which has seen him progress from a successful amateur background into professional boxing.
Born in Liversedge, Cory’s boxing journey began locally at Cleckheaton Boxing Academy when he was just 10. His amateur career eventually included around 80 contests, England representation and a Great Britain Elite Three Nations gold medal.
That Yorkshire connection is something that resonates strongly with us at HZS.
Playing our part in supporting local sport
HZS manufactures from our facility in Ossett, West Yorkshire, and while our products are supplied to construction projects across the UK, our roots remain firmly in the region.
We believe successful local businesses have an opportunity to support the people and communities around them. Grassroots and professional sport relies on more than what happens on competition night. Behind every athlete are years of training, travel, preparation and commitment, often long before the major opportunities arrive.
That is why we are pleased to be behind Cory and to see that commitment rewarded with an English title.
His success is a great example of what can come from persistence and taking your opportunity when it arrives.
Well done Cory!!
